Did you experience bullying as a kid when the internet wasn’t around? Have you considered how the internet is now used for bullying kids in an even more dangerous way?

We dove into these topics in this week’s episode of the Weekend Wellness Hour Show with Dr. Michael Nuccitelli, a NYS licensed psychologist, Cyberpsychology researcher and online safety educator.   Dr. Nuccitelli has been studying cyberbullying and the effects of this on the mental health of children and teenagers.

We first explored classic bullying and the impact on mental health.  Dr. Nuccitelli then explained how cyberbullying is even more harmful to children due to the inability of kids to escape the bullying since the internet lives in our homes and out in society 24/7/365.

Another aspect of cyberbullying is the fact that the harmful words or images live on forever.  The torment that happened for someone as a child can still haunt them later as an adult because it can always exist online.

We discussed why cyberbullying occurs and how it all comes down to peer acceptance.  Dr. Nuccitelli also discussed some of the tactics kids and teenagers use to target others.

Of the 42 ways minors bully other minors, he mentioned that exclusion and sextortion are the two biggest tactics used nowadays.  He gave examples of how minors implement this to torment others for acceptance from others.

We went through some solutions for stopping cyberbullying including educating children at a young age.  He encouraged everyone to discuss keeping personal information private and even urges parents to encourage more children to become upstanders, those who try to stop cyberbullying by notifying adults of this occurring.

More is needed to address this as Dr. Nuccitelli pointed out the cyberbullycide is becoming more prevalent.  This includes depression and suicide.

Please join us to learn how to address cyberbullying and keep your kids and minors safe mentally and emotionally.

Dr. Jelusich warned that there is an aspect of letting go and sometimes when you awaken something inside you, there might be some stuff you have to learn to process that you might have suppressed.  He also spoke about developing faith in your intuitive faculties.

We spoke about chakras and how they are more than just energy centers but are also conduits of consciousness.  Dr. Jelusich shared his thoughts on a dominant chakra in all of us and why it’s important to awaken our dormant chakras.

We even dove into biofields or auras and he explained how it combines with the 7 chakras, the sushumna, the main column of light going through our spine and the twin serpents of the caduceus.  He shared how the biofield holds the body in space and time.

We went into all this and more in a great conversation on consciousness.  Dr. Richard Jelusich is Lead Faculty and Chair, Board of Directors of CIHS. How do you talk to yourself? Do you say negative thoughts to yourself on a daily basis?  Are you aware that you do that?

We spoke about self talk for this week’s episode of the Weekend Wellness Hour Show with Viorica Vanica, co-founder of selftalk.space. Viorica is a holistic therapist who works with clients to change the way they speak to themselves on a daily basis.

Viorica began studying self talk as part of her personal development journey and looked at the mental training that Olympic athletes received. She explained how these athletes are trained in a self talk that boosts performance instead of one that tears them down.

We then looked at why negative self talk develops, which she explained begins in childhood. She described how children have an emotionally charged event when they’re very young and that leads them to create certain beliefs about themselves which they then match with a certain behavior as a coping mechanism.

Viorica then explained how we can begin to change our negative self talk. We went through the importance of being conscious while making these changes so it has a lasting impact on our mental health.

We also went through the three common categories of negative self talk and how to address them. Viorica then gave an example on how to work through an event during the day that triggers you so that you can free yourself from the past.

Viorica shared with us how she now works with clients by providing them a specialized self talk meditation. She works with founders of companies as well as other individuals to create a meditation that the person can play to help bring about a conscious change in their inner thoughts.

Please join us to learn how self talk your affects your energy, health and how you show up in the world.

Do you struggle to self-soothe in the face of crises or even everyday life?  Have you ever considered that your soul and spirit are not in alignment so your body is seeking outside sources of satisfaction?

We discussed this concept with this week’s episode of the Weekend Wellness Hour Show with Dr. Shannon Crawford. Dr. Crawford shared with us her background of switching from an acting career into psychology so that she could heal not only herself from traumas but others as well.

As Dr. Crawford explored the benefit of psychotherapy, she realized there was a misalignment of the spirit and soul. She worked on a method to help people restore what she calls self-cohesion.

Dr. Crawford described the soul in terms of mind, will and emotions. We went into the concepts of Ed, ego, super ego and true self.

We discussed the concept of the multiple aspects of self and the spirit. She explained how the spirit goes into regression which leads to misalignment with the soul.

Another important aspect to mental health struggles is Dr. Crawford’s description of the cloak of shame that plagues us all on some level. Dr. Crawford gave us tips on how she helps clients move past the cloak of shame and restore the alignment of spirit and soul.

Dr. Crawford is the CEO of Dr. Crawford and Associates, providing innovative psychotherapy services where she and her team utilize specialized therapy and leadership consulting tailored to the needs of the client.  She is also the founder of 7MCulture, a nonprofit that will impact a generation by cultivating emotionally healthy leaders who overcome internal blocks, thrive in their calling, and successfully equip successors for enduring legacy.

Did you know that your brain development is highly dependent on your mobility?  And that this affects babies and their ability to socialize?

We talked about these concepts and more in this week’s episode of the Weekend Wellness Hour Show with scientist and researcher Dr. Cole Galloway.  Dr. Galloway shared his progression into research using robotics to help babies move at 4-6 months of age.

He discovered how brain activity increases when babies have an active participation in their movement through their environment versus passively being moved by another person.  Dr. Galloway expressed the importance of this finding for social development.

We discussed how this led to the Go Baby Go, a 300 chapter international research, education and advocacy movement -- where he invents and studies devices for children and adults with severe mobility issues.  He explained how many parents begged for little cars for their infants so that their children with physical disabilities could develop social skills.

Dr. Galloway shared how this research has led to much media attention from CNN to the discover channel to more. This has helped him raise awareness of mobility as a human right.

He is currently working with Toyota for production of these little robotic cars for babies with disabilities but finds challenges with companies not wanting to take on the legal challenges of babies operating robots. Currently though, STEM programs around the country teach teenagers how to build these vehicles for children in need.

Dr Galloway is a professor at the University of Delaware and has a background of rehabilitation, neuroscience, child development, human-machine interaction and open-source culture.  His approach of combining high tech and low tech into “go tech” has garnered the interest, funding and awards from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Department of Education, and tech industries from medical to toy to auto.

Come learn about the importance of your environment in how your brain functions.  You don't want to miss this!
