Acupuncture with Dr. Greg Lane

Have you ever experienced acupuncture?  Do you know what it does to your body?

We discussed acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine today for the Weekend Wellness Hour Show with Dr. Greg Lane.  Dr. Lane is the Program Director for Integral Health at California Institute for Human Science but became an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist in 1994 when a knee injury and surgery ended his professional dancing career.

Dr. Lane explained the various healing modalities that make up traditional Chinese medicine and how it’s much more than just acupuncture.  He expressed the importance of looking at all aspects of a person to help them heal the mind, body and spirit.

We explored the mechanics of acupuncture and what it does to the body.  He described the acupuncture channels and how he assesses each person’s body before he determines where to place the needles.  We event went into the benefits of using electrical stimulation on the needles for some of his patients.

Dr. Lane also dove into the use of herbs to help healing for his patients.  He picks certain granules that can be dissolved in hot water to make a tea to address a person’s concerns and pains.  Dr. Lane explained the components of the herbs and why there is usually more than 2 components to help the herbs take effect in the body.

Besides being Program Director for Integral Health, Dr. Lane was also medical director for Modern Acupuncture, Southern California where he oversaw all clinical activities of 8 acupuncture clinics and 11 acupuncturists. He currently has a private practice at Revivorship Holistic Wellness Center in Encinitas, CA where he provides acupuncture and Chinese medical services to a patient population that is recovering from cancer treatment.  He also owns InHomeAcu, an acupuncture house call service for those patients who prefer to receive in-home treatments or who are unable to go to a clinic to receive treatment.
